Position:                      Engine Assembly Mechanic
Reports To:                 Director of Operations
Status:                         Hourly, Non-Exempt
Shift:                           1st Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay Range:                 $20.50 – $32.00 / Hour
           
BASIC WORKER FUNCTION:
Assembles piston and turbine engines and completes final helicopter assembly before flight. Performs rigging, adjustments, and works on any issues found during pre-flight or flight testing. Follows blueprints, technical data, and approved procedures.
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:
• Assemble major and subassemblies during final stages.
• Make final rigging adjustments before flight.
• Fix minor issues during pre-flight and flight testing.
• Set up, operate, and adjust assembly fixtures, machines, and equipment.
• Use hand and power tools for installation, adjustment, and testing.
• Troubleshoot assembly or flight line problems.
• Maintain accurate records of work.
• Collaborate with team members and other departments.
• Follow all safety and quality rules.
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Experience in helicopter assembly, maintenance, and repair.
• Understanding of helicopter fundamentals and flight theory.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications.
• Detail-oriented with precision assembly skills.
• A&P Certification or ability to obtain.
• Skilled with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Ability to perform precise work with hands.
• Knowledge of final assembly and flight line procedures.
• Troubleshooting and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Flexible for overtime as needed.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years experience in helicopter assembly or related mechanical work preferred.
• A&P Certification required or ability to obtain.
• Experience in FAA-regulated or quality-controlled manufacturing preferred.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Stand and walk for long periods.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Bend, reach, kneel, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
• Manual dexterity for precise mechanical work.
• Adequate vision for inspections, measurements, and reading documents.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
