The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, and inventory throughout the warehouse and production areas. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory, supporting shipping and receiving operations, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operate sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, and other powered industrial equipment safely and efficiently.
Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments.
Transport materials between warehouse locations and production areas.
Accurately scan and record inventory transactions using warehouse management systems (WMS) and handheld RF scanners.
Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
Pick, stage, and prepare orders for shipment according to customer requirements.
Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and shipping documents.
Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness in accordance with GMP, safety, and company standards.
Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory procedures.
Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
Adhere to all OSHA, food safety, and company policies and procedures.
Support team members and perform additional warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of forklift operating experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
Ability to operate forklifts safely and effectively.
Basic computer skills and experience using RF scanners.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
Forklift certification.
Experience with SAP, WMS, or ERP systems.
Experience in food ingredient, chemical, or manufacturing warehouse environments.
Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in warehouse environments with varying temperatures.
Ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks for extended periods.
Work Environment
Warehouse and distribution setting.
Exposure to warehouse equipment, moving machinery, and material handling operations.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required as needed.
