Position Summary
The Maintenance Associate is responsible for performing janitorial and general housekeeping duties while also maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing warehouse equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure. The position helps ensure the warehouse remains safe, clean, organized, and operational throughout the 1st shift.
Schedule: 1st Shift, M-F, 6 AM - 2:30 PM
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean warehouse floors, offices, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and maintain proper disposal of waste.
- Clean and maintain restrooms, sinks, fixtures, and other facility areas.
- Replenish restroom and janitorial supplies as needed.
- Clean spills and address other housekeeping issues promptly to maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform general janitorial and housekeeping duties throughout the warehouse and facility.
- Keep maintenance, storage, and utility areas clean and organized.
- Assist with snow removal, groundskeeping, and other seasonal facility maintenance as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe maintenance area and follow all company safety procedures.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and basic HVAC issues.
- Maintain conveyor systems, dock equipment, doors, lighting, and other warehouse equipment.
- Respond promptly to maintenance calls and equipment breakdowns.
- Inspect equipment and identify potential problems before they cause downtime.
- Replace or repair motors, belts, bearings, switches, sensors, and other components as needed.
- Perform basic fabrication, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work when qualified.
- Keep accurate records of repairs, inspections, preventive maintenance, and complete cleaning tasks.
- Work with warehouse and operations personnel to minimize equipment downtime and maintain facility cleanliness.
- Assist outside contractors and service technicians when necessary.
- Follow OSHA and company safety requirements, including proper lockout/tagout procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance, facilities, janitorial, warehouse, or related experience preferred.
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills are preferred.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment.
- Ability to perform cleaning and janitorial duties as part of the regular workday.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, bend, climb, and perform physical tasks.
- Ability to work a 1st-shift schedule.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements
The position requires standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and carrying materials and equipment, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, and performing cleaning and maintenance tasks. Employees must be able to safely work around warehouse equipment and machinery.
Work Environment
Warehouse and distribution-center environment with exposure to moving equipment, machinery, varying temperatures, noise, dust, cleaning products, and other normal warehouse conditions. Proper personal protective equipment and company safety procedures must be always followed.
