1st Shift Maintenance Electrician

This 1st shift Maintenance Electrician role is based in a large manufacturing facility in Massillon, OH and focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical and mechanical systems that support concrete batch plant operations and heavy industrial equipment. You will work with PLC-controlled systems, motor controls, VFDs, and a variety of material handling and production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical issues affecting batch plant operations, mixer systems, conveyors, and production equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar control platforms.
• Maintain and repair concrete mixers, aggregate systems, cement delivery systems, batching controls, conveyor systems, and material handling equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and control drawings to perform accurate repairs and installations.
• Install, test, and maintain motors, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), sensors, relays, contactors, switches, and instrumentation.
• Perform electrical upgrades and modifications to improve equipment performance, reliability, and safety.
• Troubleshoot network communications between PLCs, HMIs, batching software, and production equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, manifolds, and related hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose and repair pneumatic controls, air compressors, actuators, regulators, solenoids, and distribution systems.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and downtime events in maintenance records or systems.
• Maintain spare parts inventories and recommend replacement components to minimize equipment downtime.
• Assist in developing preventative and predictive maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements during all maintenance activities.
• Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when servicing equipment to ensure a safe work environment.
• Identify and report safety hazards, equipment deficiencies, and operational risks to appropriate personnel.
• Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance and plant operations.

• Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• 5+ years of multi-craft industrial maintenance experience working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI systems, including programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of motor controls and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Proficiency working with industrial electrical systems, including 24VDC, 120V, 240V, and 480V power.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, and manifolds.
• Ability to diagnose and maintain pneumatic systems, including air compressors, actuators, regulators, solenoids, and distribution systems.
• Experience working with concrete batch plants or heavy industrial equipment in a production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and construction drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, including familiarity with 3-phase motors and related equipment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work on feet for extended periods in an industrial setting.
• Ability to work safely in environments with dust, noise, vibration, temperature changes, and outdoor exposure.
• Comfort using required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and steel-toed shoes.

• Technical degree, trade school certification, or equivalent industrial maintenance experience is preferred.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Electrical license or journeyman certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
• Background in electronics and industrial controls.
• Familiarity with batching controls and concrete production equipment.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and maintenance records.
• Strong focus on safety and adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Experience working in construction or heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to contribute to preventative and predictive maintenance program development.

This role is based in a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility that is not climate-controlled and can be dusty and dirty due to ongoing concrete pouring operations, especially as trucks pull into the bays until new machines are installed. There are currently about 50 employees working on the floor, with plans to grow to approximately 80 over the next three months, creating a dynamic and expanding team environment. Safety is a core focus, with strict adherence to company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Employees regularly participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. The work involves exposure to dust, noise, vibration, temperature changes, and occasional outdoor conditions, and requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and steel-toed shoes.

This is a Permanent position based out of Massillon, OH.

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
