Summary
The responsibility of the Maintenance Service Leader is to oversee and coordinate the daily maintenance and repair operations performed by scheduling, monitoring shop employees, and ordering and organizing parts, supplies, records, and files to provide safe, efficient, and quality service to all customers. This position coordinates activities with all shop personnel, outside vendors, ATS operations, drivers, and contractors.
Education and Experience
1.1-3 years of equivalent experience in a related field e.g. automotive, medium/heavy equipment, and trailer repair, etc., and/or a two-year AAS Degree in a medium/heavy truck diesel program and/or maintenance-related program.
2.1 to 3 years of supervisory experience in a maintenance shop environment is preferred.
3.Experience using maintenance software such as Meritor Toolbox, Bendix, and Haldex is preferred.
4.Must have a solid understanding of parts and inventory control usually gained through 1-2 years of training and/or related experience.
5.Must be able to read; be familiar with, and able to reference the current DOT Out of Service regulations.
6.Must possess a high level of stress tolerance and the ability to multi-task.
7.Demonstrated planning, organizing, and prioritization skills.
8.DOT and forklift certification preferred or ability to become forklift certified within 90 days of employment.
9.Must have the ability to operate vehicles; a valid driver’s license is required.
10.Must be able to operate related power/shop equipment.
11.Must demonstrate a proactive commitment to ATS corporate values and the success of all staff.
12.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
13.Excellent communication skills (written, listening and verbal).
14.Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1.Coordinate all activities associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of assigned equipment/vehicles by effectively scheduling work and leadership of technicians to ensure job tasks are completed in a timely manner.
2.Partner with the Shop Manager and Human Resources in the recruiting, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and training of new employees.
3.Provide effective employee performance management utilizing SMART goals, timely and constructive feedback, coaching for improvement, and progressive discipline.
4.Monitor preventative maintenance service and repairs on all assets to ensure safe working conditions and in DOT compliance.
5.Monitor work-in-progress job tasks, ensuring completed work meets required company and DOT maintenance standards.
6.Serve as a point of escalation and mentorship for complex or unique repairs.
7.Ensure all job tasks are completed as assigned – verifying that all preventative maintenance and driver items are accurately addressed and that all safety lane tasks are documented and assigned.
8.Serve as the liaison between the technicians and the drivers, providing a high level of customer service while enhancing the driver’s experience.
9.Verify that all required parts for the repair have been added to the work orders for correct billing.
10.Ensure all company-specific and DOT-regulated safety procedures are implemented and followed.
11.Ensure all preventative maintenance and maintenance service items are completed and all job tasks have been completed/updated or removed from the system prior to the equipment leaving the shop.
12.Ensure the volume of work produced meets company standards and ensures customer satisfaction.
13.Communicate with drivers and/or Operations staff regarding the status of vehicle/equipment maintenance and repair jobs.
14.Issue necessary parts requested by mechanics and enter information into a computer system.
15.Demonstrates, by their daily actions, ATS Mission, Vision, and Values in a consistent, effective, and reliable manner.

19.Complete work responsibilities outside of normal business hours as needed and infrequent travel may be required.

d.Situations requiring eye protection and steel toed boots
Salary Position w/o Training Incentive or Incentive
Compensation & Benefits
· The anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $85,000. Base salary offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic as compared to others doing substantially similar work. In addition to the base salary, employees may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which can vary depending on individual and/or company performance.
