The 1st Shift Seamer Operator (Can Line) is a full-time production role responsible for operating the filler/seamer machine that fills tomato products into cans and seals them with lids. The operator is accountable for both production efficiency and product quality.
Primary Responsibilities
Operate the filler/seamer machine at maximum efficiency.
Monitor and record production performance and downtime.
Verify product temperatures and production data hourly.
Inspect sample cans for defects and ensure proper coding.
Start up, shut down, and clean the filler/seamer equipment.
Inspect lids before use and report damaged or dirty lids.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Work closely with Quality Assurance personnel.
Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), food safety, and company safety requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
Team-oriented attitude.
Physical Requirements
Standing and walking for most of the shift.
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, squatting, twisting, and climbing.
Regular handling of can lids and materials.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Occasional lifting of materials up to about 80 pounds.
Ability to keep the production line supplied with lids to avoid downtime.
