Shop Helper – Metal Rework (Manufacturing Experience Required)
Pay: $18.00/hr (1st Shift) | $20.00/hr (3rd Shift)
Job Type: Full-Time, Contract to Hire
Location: Mentor, OH
We are hiring an experienced Shop Helper to support metal rework, repair, and finishing operations in a manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for candidates with previous experience in machining, fabrication, metalworking, CNC production, or industrial manufacturing who are comfortable using hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and reading blueprints.
This is not an entry-level position. Applicants should have prior manufacturing experience.
Responsibilities
- Operate and tend CNC machines
- Load, unload, and inspect machined metal parts
- Perform deburring, polishing, re-tapping, marking, and minor metal repairs
- Use grinders, files, drills, taps, and other hand and power tools
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools
- Read blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers
- Maintain quality standards and accurate production records
- Keep work areas clean and follow all safety procedures
Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year of manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or metalworking experience
- Experience using hand and power tools in a manufacturing setting
- Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Ability to read blueprints and follow manufacturing work instructions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand throughout the shift
