Job Title: Shift Foreman (Production)
Job Summary
The Shift Foreman is responsible for overseeing all production operations during their assigned shift. This role ensures that production goals are met safely, efficiently, and in alignment with quality standards. The Shift Foreman leads and develops production staff, manages workflow, minimizes downtime, and maintains cost control while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Efficiency
- Maintain production cycle times in accordance with established standards (IQMs)
- Identify, document, and report any cycle time variances to management
- Monitor production output and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency
- Ensure accurate tracking of scrap, downtime, and production data
Quality Assurance
- Oversee quality control processes to ensure all parts meet required specifications
- Partner with Quality Control to address defects and determine product disposition
- Enforce adherence to all processing procedures and work instructions
- Drive initiatives to reduce scrap and improve overall product quality
- Ensure all completed production is properly scanned and transferred to the warehouse
Leadership & Labor Management
- Supervise, coach, and motivate production employees to meet performance expectations
- Assign personnel effectively based on production needs and scheduling changes
- Communicate daily staffing requirements to management
- Monitor attendance, enforce policies, and address performance issues
- Conduct employee evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development
Molds, Changeovers & Maintenance
- Coordinate and execute mold changeovers to minimize downtime
- Ensure molds, inserts, and materials are prepared and available ahead of production needs
- Lead press startups following changeovers
- Perform and oversee mold cleaning and preventative maintenance (polishing, leak checks, tear-downs, etc.)
- Track and report mold issues, risks, and required replacement components
- Maintain proper mold storage and inventory organization
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety policies and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Identify and address unsafe conditions or escalate concerns as needed
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability across the production floor
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 3 years of injection molding experience
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of production processes, tooling, and manufacturing operations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/production floor environment
- Requires standing, walking, and interaction with machinery for extended periods
- May require flexibility to work different shifts, overtime, or weekends as needed
