Introduction:

This position has the primary responsibility of driving a Yard Truck or Tractor to Position trailers in the yard or dock door locations directly assisting with timely loading, unloading and staging ready loads for departure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Operations Management to keep trailers smoothly moving between departments as they are loaded in order to keep the docks clear for safety, and efficiently service the needs of our customers accurately
  • Assist Operations Management in achieving daily department goals
  • Understand, embrace, and encourage the fulfillment of our Mission Statement with all associates.
  • Check temperatures on trailers.
  • Check fuel on reefer units.
  • Report any equipment issues immediately to direct supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma preferred or GED accepted.
  • 1-2 years of CDL A driving experience preferred.
  • Valid Class "A" CDL preferred.
  • Comprehend math, spelling and reading of various forms to ensure accurate records are kept.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in the transportation industry preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical strength and dexterity to climb in and out of tractors multiple times during each shift while connecting air hoses, electric hoses, and inspecting the proper locking with the trailers for safe travel.
  • Daily exposure to the noise, dust, and a wide diversity of temperatures from very cold to very warm in the distribution center and semi tractor yard.
