Role Overview

The Database Administrator III is a senior-level technical role responsible for establishing and driving the strategy, standards, lifecycle management, design, implementation, and operational support of the organization's database infrastructure. This position serves as a subject matter expert for enterprise database environments, ensuring the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of critical systems.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience administering large-scale Oracle and SQL Server environments while supporting MariaDB and Tibero platforms across Unix/Linux and Windows systems. This role requires strong technical leadership, project management capabilities, problem-solving expertise, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and corporate headquarters on high-impact technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Infrastructure Management

• Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise database environments, including Oracle, SQL Server, MariaDB, and Tibero.
• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and troubleshoot database systems across Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.
• Perform daily database administration activities to ensure system availability, reliability, and performance.
• Diagnose database performance bottlenecks and implement tuning and optimization strategies.
• Manage database security administration, including user access controls, auditing, and compliance requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL scripts, stored procedures, and database objects.
• Create and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts to automate operational tasks and improve efficiency.
• Perform basic Unix/Linux system administration functions supporting database infrastructure.

Technical Leadership

• Establish database infrastructure standards, best practices, and lifecycle management processes.
• Evaluate and implement emerging database technologies and architectural solutions.
• Design and contribute to enterprise-wide database infrastructure initiatives and implementation strategies.
• Conduct technical analysis, business analysis, integration testing, and performance testing.
• Collaborate with headquarters and internal stakeholders to align infrastructure strategies and solutions.
• Provide guidance and technical expertise to project teams and operational staff.

Project Management

• Manage multiple database-related projects, tasks, issues, and systems simultaneously.
• Lead projects from requirements gathering through implementation and completion.
• Ensure project documentation is maintained and updated throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct and facilitate project meetings with technical teams, business stakeholders, and customers.
• Escalate issues appropriately when business needs exceed the scope of responsibility.

Documentation & Operational Excellence

• Develop and maintain operational procedures, standards, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and IT governance standards.
• Continuously improve operational processes and service delivery effectiveness.
• Participate in on-call support and provide 24x7 operational support as required.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.

Experience

• 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience supporting large-scale Oracle and SQL Server database environments.
• Proven experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting enterprise database platforms.
• Experience with database performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization.
• Strong experience working within Unix/Linux and Windows server environments.
• Experience managing multiple technical projects and priorities simultaneously.

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
• Experience supporting MariaDB and Tibero database platforms.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate certification.
• Experience managing cloud-native and hybrid database solutions in Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with enterprise database architecture and modernization initiatives.
• Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
• Experience working within highly available, mission-critical environments.

Salary Range: $79,000-$118,000
