    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Delaware Teaching certification in Special Education is preferred
    • Experience or extensive work with students with an IEP
    • Experience of Manifestation Determination meetings
    • Experience with working with staff on implementing the student IEP

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    The administrative team at Kent County Secondary ILC believes that all types of behavior are inter-connected for student success. The Dean of Student Achievement will be expected to work collaboratively with his/her counterpart, the School Safety Monitors, School Resource Office, and the Intervention Secretary. The list of responsibilities below is not "all encompassing" and special projects may be assigned to the deans as a means to support the mission of the school.

    • Actively participate in and facilitate the attendance monitoring process for students on their respective caseload. This may include, but is not limited to: tardy to class, hall sweeps, parent contact in conjunction with classroom teacher communication, assisting in the documenting requirements for truancy court filings with the Principal supervising attendance, and student counseling/support.
    • Work collaboratively with our PBS programming and directly support our Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention teams.
    • Actively participate in and facilitate the RtI process for students on their respective caseload. This may include, but is not limited to: participating in bi-weekly SIT meetings, parent contact in conjunction with classroom teacher communication, classroom observation, student counseling/support, meeting facilitation, attendance at IEP/manifestation meetings (as needed), and acquiring all required documentation needed for audit purposes.
    • Support classroom learning through non-evaluative observations (as needed/requested), long range lesson planning (as needed) with individuals/groups of teachers/departments to support teachers in classroom expectations and management.
    • Participate in department meetings (as needed), attendance at IEP/manifestation meetings (as needed), and participation in the school improvement process (as needed).
    • Deliver professional development to all or some teachers needing assistance in implementing strong classroom management, interventions as defined in our Student Success Guide or other instructional support.
    • Provide support as identified by the administration, department chairs, and the district's Student Services Supervisor.
    • Investigate, manage, and process the items in eSchool related to student behavior on their respective caseload as defined by our district's student behavioral expectations (currently the School Success Guide).
    • Work with assigned administrators within the case load to prepare for building level hearings and district level hearings/expulsions. May include, but is not limited to:
    • Lunch duty and hall duty
    • Morning and afternoon supervision (entry and dismissal)

    Standard Requirements:

    • Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
    • Tuberculin Test and physical
