Education:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments

Experience:

Must have knowledge of the general needs of children at this grade level, and the ability to

work cooperatively with staff, students, and parents.

Special Knowledge:

  • Plan and collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP through the ARD Committee process for each student assigned. Conduct benchmarks and progress monitoring as required by campus.
  • Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula as needed and assist special education students in regular classes with assignments.
  • Ensure campus special education staff complete required annual goals, objectives, and present level of academic and functional performance indicators.
