POSITION SUMMARY

Regents School of Austin seeks a Christ-centered, highly relational, and high-competence Head High School (School of Rhetoric) Girls Basketball Coach to build and lead an aligned 7-12 girls basketball program. In the proper context, Regents Athletics serves as a formative arena in which students mature in Christ-like character, and coaches lead in a manner that honors God and conveys a positive Christian witness.

This is a stipend position if hired only to coach. Otherwise, this position could be filled by a current or prospective 7-12th-grade teacher, depending on experience and gifting. Subject matter taught would be based on experience.  Note that the benefits listed below are for full-time employees. If part-time or seasonal as a stipend-only employee, benefits would not apply.

The role supports Regents’ broader mission to provide a classical, Christian education that equips students to know, love, and practice what is true, good, and beautiful, and to live lives of faithful service to God and man.

What You’ll Lead

  • Build a program, not just a team: Establish a clear, multi-year vision, standards, and development pathway from middle school (School of Logic) through varsity.

  • Disciple and develop student-athletes: Intentionally shepherd hearts and habits through athletics, including team devotions, mentorship, accountability, and service.

  • Engage the Regents basketball community: Unite players, parents, alumni, and local relationships into a healthy, mission-aligned baseball culture.

PRINCIPLES FOR CONDUCTING WORK

  • Pursue full devotion to Christ and live a life that reflects joyful obedience to Him.

  • Model the fruits of the Spirit in communication, relationships, and daily work.

  • Demonstrate teachability, a positive attitude, and a willing heart for service.

  • Embody other-centered servant leadership in all interactions.

  • Prioritize important, mission-driven work rather than the merely urgent.

  • Maintain clear and gracious communication with students, colleagues, and parents.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Leadership & Culture

  • Establish and protect a Christ-honoring team culture, including language, behavior, sportsmanship, and standards.

  • Plan and execute a year-round program calendar, including in-season competition, off-season development, leadership training, and team-building.

  • Implement fair, documented, and development-focused player evaluation and role-clarity processes.

Coaching & Player Development

  • Design and lead high-quality practices with clear progressions emphasizing fundamentals, strategy, and situational understanding.

  • Manage game strategy, lineups, and in-game adjustments while modeling composure, respect, and sportsmanship.

  • Recruit, hire, and supervise assistant coaches; clearly define roles, expectations, and communication rhythms.

  • Align the coaching staff around shared teaching language, standards, and discipleship philosophy.

Community & Relationships

  • Build and steward a broad basketball network that serves Regents athletes, including alumni engagement, clinics, guest instructors, and local partnerships.

  • Communicate proactively and consistently with players and parents regarding schedules, expectations, and development.

Operations, Safety, & Compliance

  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics with the Athletic Department.

  • Oversee facility stewardship and equipment inventory.

  • Maintain student-athlete eligibility and comply with all school, league, and TAPPS requirements.

  • Complete and maintain all required safety trainings, including CPR and other school-mandated certifications.
