Job Title: Mariachi Teacher

Primary Purpose:
Direct, manage and implement a comprehensive Mariachi program. Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular Mariachi activities and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and district requirements. Plan activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate - Music EC-12
Demonstrated competency in core subject area assigned
College hours in Mariachi methods or professional Mariachi experience
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge and skills in teaching methods and strategies in voice and mariachi instruments, including violin, trumpet, vihuela, guitar and guitarron
Knowledge and skills in teaching Mariachi styles
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of music technology
Kill in the use of technology and knowledge of appropriate software for musical event and contest registration
Demonstrated evidence of responsibility, competence, enthusiasm, and imagination
Demonstrated ability to foster cooperation and establish a professional relationship with other staff members
Demonstrated success in promoting positive public relations within the community
Demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining students in the program
Demonstrated success in motivating student to excel
Experience:
Three years teaching and Mariachi experience

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)] Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
