Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for a part time (up to 4.5 hours per day) Occupational Therapist - Registered position that is available within our division for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Certified Occupational Therapist (OTR) works with students with disabilities to help them maintain their present level of functioning and gain the highest level of functional independence for educational access. The OT provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment. The OT consults with the school-based team to achieve student outcomes, adapts and modifies the environment, including assistive technology, and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible. The OT educates students, education personnel, and family to facilitate skills in areas of occupation, as well as health maintenance and safety. The OT will monitor and reassess the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention, as well as document the services to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate. The OT will provide legal and ethical supervision of the occupational therapy assistant assuming responsibility for the students served by the assistant while adhering to federal and state legislation, regulations and policies that affect occupational therapy practice.
