The School District of Beloit is seeking a School Social Worker to direct mental health and social-emotional support to K-5 students. This position collaborates with teachers, parents, and community agencies to improve students' academic success, attendance, and well-being, and implements programs to foster a positive school climate and equitable access to services.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct individual & group counseling addressing behavioral, emotional, and social needs
Support IEPs and 504 plans-attend meetings, monitor goals
Consult daily with staff and parents regarding interventions and classroom strategies
Perform assessments/referrals for mental health, substance use, family issues, homelessness, abuse
Develop & deliver social-emotional education modules (bullying prevention, emotion regulation)
Coordinate community & agency referrals (e.g., WIC, health care, housing assistance)
Track attendance/suspension/truancy; implement intervention plans
Facilitate crisis response protocols (suicidal ideation, abuse, sudden trauma)
Serve on MLSS teams to guide tiered support
Maintain mandated documentation & data for services provided
Education and Licensure
Master's degree in Social Work
Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) educator license under the social worker category
Experience & Skills
Experience with children's mental health, preferably in schools or child welfare, preferred
Familiarity with IEPs, RTI, PBIS, trauma-informed practice, family engagement
Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
Competence in crisis management, risk assessments, and child protection
Cultural responsiveness and experience with diverse populations
Comfort using digital case-management and school data systems
