2026-2027 School Year - Adjunct Music - Instrumental/Small Group Instruction

Job Summary: Middleton High School is seeking a dedicated and talented Instrumental Specialist to join our dynamic Music Department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in music performance, with a passion for teaching and inspiring high school students. This role involves directing in various ensembles, providing individual and group instruction, and contributing to the overall music education program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruction:

• Provide individual and group lessons.

• Teach music theory and performance practices.

• Prepare students for school concerts, competitions, and other performance opportunities.

• Ensemble Direction:

• Assist with the direction of the school's band program, including concert band, jazz band, marching band, and small ensembles.

• Conduct sectional rehearsals and full ensemble rehearsals as needed.

• Collaborate with the Band Director to develop and implement rehearsal schedules and performance plans.

• Curriculum Development:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum.

• Stay current with music education best practices and incorporate new teaching methods and materials.

• Select and arrange appropriate repertoire for woodwind ensembles and solo performances.

• Student Development:

• Assess and evaluate student progress regularly, providing feedback and setting goals for improvement.

• Encourage and motivate students to achieve their highest potential.

• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of all students.

• Valid Wisconsin teaching certificate in the subject area of employment (Music Education).
• Commitment to social justice and culturally and linguistically responsive practices.
• Commitment to teaching the whole child (academics and social emotional learning).
• Ability to embed differentiation in daily instruction to meet the need of a wide range of students.
• Commitment to collaboration and reflection within a school community dedicated to continuous improvement.

• Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are strongly preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Proficiency in playing and/or teaching multiple woodwind instruments.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
• Strong conducting and ensemble rehearsal skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with marching band instruction and drill design.
• Knowledge of technology and software relevant to music education.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth in music education.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students.
