QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification: Current Delaware Delaware teaching license and certification as a Middle Level English Language Arts Teacher (Del. Admin. Code 1531) or Secondary English Language Arts Teacher (Grades 9-12; Valid in Grades 6-8 in a middle level school) (Del. Admin. Code 1540); Required

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and deliver daily and unit English Language Arts lesson plans, including a scope and sequence aligned with Delaware State Standards and district curriculum; integrate technology to support instruction; maintain an appropriate pace of learning; differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs; assess student understanding on an ongoing basis; and uphold high expectations and academic rigor.
  • Build foundational language and comprehension skills, as well as reading, writing, and research skills.
  • Differentiate instruction effectively to meet the needs of all students (English Learners, Students with Disabilities, as well as Students who are below and above grade level)
  • Create and teach lesson plans, aid students in understanding subject matter, and ensure that classroom routines are followed in accordance with school guidelines.
  • Maintain an orderly and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning, enforcing school rules and classroom behavior expectations consistently.
  • Create and maintain a classroom environment to encourage all students to be engaged and work toward meeting the standards; maintain accurate, thorough records of student achievement and behavioral performance; and complete progress and grade reports promptly and as scheduled.
  • Monitor students' academic progress through accurate grades and assessments.
  • Maintain communication with students, parents/guardians, and school staff as needed.
  • Provide instructional opportunities through a digital student learning management system.
  • Make reasonable efforts to provide for the care and protection of school property, equipment, and materials.
  • Practice sound interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and families.
  • Maintain a professional relationship, working cooperatively with all school personnel.
  • Participate in department or team meetings, professional development, and other school-related duties as requested.
  • Carefully plan for substitute teachers when unable to attend school and relate lessons to the state content standards.
  • Report to work on time every workday, except as afforded by existing law.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the school administration.
  • The teacher must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is required to fluently speak and understand English.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers, and reach with hands and arms.
  • While performing the duties of this job, expect occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

SALARY: As per State and Local Salary Schedules for FY27 based upon experience and educational degree.
