Position: Substitute Teacher - Certified

Job Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 60 hours of college credits
• College degree and teacher certification
• Valid Texas Teacher''s Certificate

Job Description:

Ability and demonstrated aptitude in the instruction of students in assigned area. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Knowledge of general office equipment. Physically capable of meeting all performance responsibilities required with students, including stooping, bending and lifting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Replace the absent teacher in the instruction of students and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal or assistant principal.

• Substitute teacher positions are avaliable on an "as-needed" basis.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

• Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion: Frequent walking
• Lifting: Frequent light lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling (less than 15 pounds); occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling (up to 50 pounds)
• Environment: Work inside and outside, regular exposure to noise and the elements
• Mental Demands: Maintain control under stress

Salary:

• Level 1 - $100.00/day (60+ hours of college credits)
• Level 2 - $110.00/day (Bachelor''s degree)
• Level 3 - $125.00/day (Certified)
• Level 3 - $280.00/day (Long-term, certified substitute - must be in the same position for 10 consecutive days or more. The $280.00 is retroactive after the 10 days. When the long-term position is complete, the certified sub returns to the original certified substitute pay level. See Substitute Handbook for further details
