General Function:
The Bilingual Diagnostician administers and interprets psychoeducational and/or developmental tests for students with learning, developmental, and/or emotional disabilities. Provides information on child development issues to school personnel and parents. Provides recommendations for program development and student placement. Provides referral information to IEP teams. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and district policies. Provides recommendations for the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social, and emotional development of children. Interprets results of psychological studies. Interprets and applies state and federal codes. Develops strategies and interventions to address the special education needs of eligible students.
Education/Training/Experience:
Minimum: Master's degree in the field, internship, and current New Mexico Diagnostician Certification.
Preferred: Bilingual: English-Spanish

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone. Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate the work of others. Knowledge of District policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies, and child abuse/neglect. Knowledge of the evaluation and placement process. Knowledge of an integrated evaluation/placement process. Mediation/conflict resolution skills.
Essential Job Functions:

$98,338+

Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
Regularly required to stand; move throughout a room and/or facility. Communicate verbally and electronically. Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and drive. May have occasion to perform heavy lifting up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and private automobile. Some evening or weekend work and travel may be required.
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
