General Notes

This position is a part of the Texas Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) unit within the Office of the Dean of Students. Our mission is to empower students through transformative leadership development programs, resources, and experiences with the vision that each student will realize their potential as a leader to create positive change.

Purpose

The Texas LEAD Student Associate will support leadership development initiatives by assisting with program coordination, facilitation, and outreach for campus and Austin community partners. This position involves direct communication with the UT community in person and through email and phone while supporting events, workshops, marketing efforts, and daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and facilitation of the unit’s programs and events (e.g., Conversation Navigation, Coach UT, Project Advance Austin, and workshops/trainings)
  • Assist with program marketing (i.e., tabling, creating materials, passing out flyers)
  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Gather and review information to benefit the mission of our unit and University
  • Complete administrative tasks to benefit the unit (e.g., responding to emails, answering the phone, directing students to appropriate resources, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Required Qualifications

  • Must be an undergraduate student enrolled in courses for the 2026-2027 school year
  • Maintain a cumulative and semester grade point average of 2.25 or above and be in good disciplinary standing with the University
  • A desire to work with peers in a developmental capacity
  • Experience in any of the following: interpersonal communications, program recruitment, peer-to-peer leadership, Microsoft/Google suite of office tools (Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, and PowerPoint/Slides)
  • Experience with or interested in program facilitation and public speaking
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Salary Range

Hourly Pay Rate $11.10/hr

Working Conditions

Typical office environment with occasional lifting and carrying when setting up for Texas LEAD events.
 

Work Shift

In-person hours to be scheduled between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential for some prescheduled weekend and evening hours.
