Position: Teacher

Reports to: Principal

Job Summary:

The teacher holds primary responsibility for the implementation and development of Milwaukee College Prep's curriculum and the success of its students.

Essential Functions:

• Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards • Design and implement assessments that measure progress toward academic standards • Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices • Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior • Be accountable for students' mastery of academic standards • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues • Build relationships with scholars and develop a positive classroom culture • Participate in annual three-week staff orientation and training • Provide model for students of exemplary conduct

Other Duties:

• Directs educational assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students • Performs other related duties, as assigned • Supports other classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans • Attends trainings and staff meetings

Education:

Bachelor's degree required, additional, ongoing professional development preferred

Experience:

Prior teaching experience preferred

Licensing:

Valid State Teaching Certification is preferred. If emergency licensing obtained, must pursue teaching certification within 6 months of hire. Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Certification required annually before first day with scholars.

• Must have a belief in and be in alignment with Milwaukee College Prep's core beliefs and educational philosophy. • Must be passionate about teaching and tenacious in ensuring each scholar's success.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

The majority of this job involves walking or standing, mostly indoors with the exception of playground duty, dismissal, fire drills, and outdoor field trips. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
