ROLE AND PURPOSE:
- Provide instructional support services. Assist teacher in instruction, preparation, and management of classroom activities. Work under direct supervision of a teacher. Assigned 100% to the campus SCE Programs for at-risk students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate must be obtained before starting the position
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
EXPERIENCE:
- Some experience working with children
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT
- Provide direct instruction of at-risk students under direct supervision of a teacher
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher: work with individual students or small groups
- Assist in classroom management
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
- Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
- Other duties as assigned to assist at-risk students
