ELL Testing Clerk II Location Assessment 10 months, 8 hours per day, 5 POSITIONS Grade 13, $15.44 per hour Non-Interim Position Date: 772026 - 642027 Purpose Statement: The job of ELL Testing Clerk II is done for the purposes of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the assessment of students English language acquisition from their native language, administering tests, performing clerical tasks related to program placement, and serving as a resource to other personnel requiring assistance with non-English speaking persons. This job reports to the Director of Assessment. Essential Functions: Administers the state language assessment and all other tests related to language proficiency test results to coordinate the assessments of PHLOTE and ELL students. Attends required school district meetings and AZELLA training for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. Completes documents related to the scoring and reporting of language proficiency test results to provide accurate documentation in compliance with current regulations. Coordinates testing of individual students and/or groups of students in English and Spanish for the purpose of using the district language proficiency assessments at all schools within the district, travel to all schools required. Prepares reviews and keeps current student data files, e.g. creates ELL folder for all ELL home language surveys, etc. for the purpose of ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal regulations. Scores assessments, verifies data, and data entry for the purpose of providing information to other staff to determine appropriate student placement and/or referral. Supports other testing clerks and SEI teachers for the purpose of providing information, guidance, and training on testing protocol and reporting procedures. Completes documents related to student program placement. Other Functions: Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities SKILLS: Required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: + Translating written documents + Operating standard office equipment + Using pertinent software applications + Preparing and maintaining accurate records KNOWLEDGE: Required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios Read a variety of manuals Write documents following prescribed formats and/or present information to others Understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: + Concepts of grammar and punctuation in both English and a Second Language (preferred) + Age-appropriate activities ABILITY: Required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events Gather and/or collate data Use basic job-related equipment Flexibility is necessary to work with others in a variety of circumstances Work with data utilizing defined but different processes Operate equipment using standardized methods Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals Work with a variety of data Utilize a variety of job-related equipment Problem-solving is required to identify issues and create action plans Problem-solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines Problem-solving with equipment is limited to moderate Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: + Communicating with diverse groups, including those with limited English proficiency + Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships Responsibility: Responsibilities include working under direct supervision, using standardized routines, leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others, utilizing some resources from other work units, and is often required to perform the jobs functions. Work Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: + Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling + Some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling + Significant fine finger dexterity Generally, the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. * The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness. Experience: Job-related experience is required. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
