QualificationsExcellent musicianship and artistry as a teacherperformerStrong understanding of viola pedagogyExperience working with children from diverse ethnic and economic backgroundsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsSelf-motivated and willing to collaborate in a team-teaching environmentAt least 2 years of prior teaching experience preferredBachelor&rsquos or equivalent degree in Viola Performance. Music Education Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Responsibilities Develop and teach engaging group viola lessons thatEstablish routines and encourage development of strong fundamental skillsIncorporate a variety of strategies movement ear training music reading and activities exercises games demonstration listening etcMaintain excellent classroom managementAdapt to the needs of students at various levels and with various learning stylesEncourage peer teachingCollaborating closely with the Administration and faculty to achieve program-wide learning goalsMaintaining a positive and nurturing classroom environmentSetting and maintaining high standards for student behavior and music learningEnforcing program rules and policies
