General Function

The WBL Summer Advisor is a student leadership role designed for returning or experienced interns who are ready to take on more responsibility. As a WBL Advisor, you will support a small group of interns and assist in key areas of the WBL program, including communication with business partners, mentor coordination, and operational support. This role is ideal for graduating high school students who are reliable, organized, and interested in building leadership, communication, and workplace skills.

Education/Training/Experience

Minimum: Must be a graduating high school senior who has completed the WBL program and is entering their first summer after finishing K-12 education. Recommended by a WBL staff member or Intern-site mentor.

Preferred: More than one WBL internship experience or strong leadership background.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated responsibility, communication, and organizational skills;

Comfortable supporting peers and interacting with adult professionals; and Interest in education, leadership, or workforce development is a plus.

Essential Job Functions

Performs all functions in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental regulations, facility and computer security policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the organization. Current essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Act as a peer leader for a small cohort of WBL interns.

  2. Serve as a liaison between interns, mentors, and business partners.

  3. Provide check-ins, guidance, and basic troubleshooting support to interns.

  4. Help WBL staff with program logistics, including tracking attendance, organizing materials, and supporting events.

  5. Support business partners by communicating scheduling changes or needs.

  6. Assist with professional development sessions, surveys, and feedback collection.

  7. Model professionalism, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.

  8. Perform other duties as assigned by WBL staff and/or Intern-site mentors.

Salary Range

$20/hour

Standard office equipment and software platforms such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite. Telephone, fax, copier, computer, stamp machine, badge machine, calculator.

Physical/Cognitive Requirements

Regularly required to stand and move throughout a room and/or facility. Communicates verbally and electronically. Uses hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and drive. May have occasion to perform heavy lifting up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and private automobile. Some evening or weekend work and travel may be required.

Environmental Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
