Overview:
YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake is seeking a Logistics & Communications Coordinator who is ready to support our leadership team and frontline summer staff members across overnight and day camp.
Beyond coordinating and mentoring some of our camp population, our ideal candidates understand the power of community and teamwork and are eager to collaborate with and support the rest of our 100-person staff throughout the summer. Responsibilities:
- Supports the frontline summer staff team with day-to-day operations of camp, working closely with the assistant overnight camp and program directors.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
- Oversees daily programming including shared responsibilities, line-ups, camper snacks, camper sneak outs, camper showers, and assists the program director with traditions such as battle for the paddle, breakfast of champions, and bead ceremony.
- Communicates changes in programming they oversee with unit coordinators and frontline summer staff.
- Oversees Camp Store in all functionalities: processing payments, inventory, regular restock, etc.
- Oversees lost and found, including end of week collection, parent communication, and organizing reunification.
- Works with the program director to implement thematic programming on a week-to-week basis.
- Assists other directors with staff performance and effectiveness, including one-on-one feedback sessions with frontline summer staff.
- Assists with maintaining camp cleanliness. Identifies and communicates needs for facility upkeep or inventory in program areas they use.
- Reports directly to the Senior Camp Director.
- Assists with resident and day camp check in and out as needed.
- Lives in yurt or glamping tent accommodations with other Leadership staff members.
- Supports weekend excursions and activities on and off site for staff members.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers under their supervision, including maintaining appropriate staff to camper ratios as required.
- Models’ relationship-building skills, and MESH (mental, emotional, social health) skills for campers and staff.
- Problem solves, communicates, and documents camper behavioral issues as they arise, and passes them off to leadership staff members as needed.
- Incorporates the mission, philosophy, and 5 core values of the YMCA of Northern Colorado in all communication with participants and staff-members.
- Maintaining confidentiality of YMCA issues and records.
- Maintaining friendly, professional relationships with staff, participants, and community members.
- Practices positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques with natural consequences.
- Required to attend and complete staff meetings, trainings, and all mandatory licensing required trainings.
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
- Attends required abuse risk management training.
- Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- 21+ years old.
- High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
- Previous experience working with children ages 7-17 years preferred.
- Cleared to drive YMCA vehicles with a clean MVR.
- Completion of child abuse prevention, CPR/AED, First Aid, bloodborne pathogens. (We provide this as part of staff training week).
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
