2027 Early Investors Program

Position Summary

Invest in your future. TCW is hosting its third annual early insights summer program designed for current first or second year students from all disciplines and majors who are keen on kick starting their career today in the vast world of financial markets and investing. Over the course of seven weeks, TCW interns will come to understand the capital markets ecosystem and the fundamentals of credit research and investing.

The program's emphasis will be centered around introducing a practical framework and best practices applied in underwriting corporate bonds and loans. Interns will learn how to interpret and analyze: (i) a bond versus a loan, (ii) financial statements, (iii) capital structures, (iv) cash flow metrics, and (v) daily market changes in bond and loan prices.

This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Essential Duties

• Gain on-the-job experience: Interns will be taught by TCW's credit professionals the necessary skills to begin researching and evaluating a company's bonds and loans. You will partner up with another intern to tackle a research project which will culminate in a final investment pitch to an audience of investment professionals. This collaborative experience is designed to strengthen your analytical and communication skills.
• Receive professional support: You will be matched with a mentor who will be available to answer your questions, help you through challenging situations, prepare you for your investment pitch, and share feedback throughout the course of the summer. You will also have the support of your summer intern peers to help navigate through your internship experience. As a supplement to the teach-ins, you will have an opportunity to shadow investment professionals conducting real-time due diligence sessions with investment bankers, hosting road show meetings with company executives, or leading an underwriting debate with TCW's traders.
• Benefit from a speaker series: TCW's top leaders and guest speakers will provide insight on how to make the most of your summer experience, share their career paths, tips, and advice, while also sharing trends in the financial and functional spaces they work in.
• Build your network: We promote community involvement and networking with other summer interns both within TCW and within the financial industry. You will have the opportunity to create lasting professional relationships and build your network.

Required Qualifications

• First or second year undergraduate students at a four-year university.
• Anticipated graduation between December 2029 and June 2030.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.
• Leadership roles or meaningful involvement in extracurricular activities, clubs, organizations, enrichment activities, and/or community service requiring strong interpersonal skills, collaboration, problem solving, conflict resolution, intellectual curiosity, and/or communication skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Excel and Powerpoint.

This program will be in-person at our LA office five days a week, with 8am-4pm expected work hours.
