    An exciting opportunity exists for a college intern to join our semiconductor foundry team at the RF Microelectronics/Module Design & Foundry Services Department at Raytheon in Andover, MA. This department develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications. This position would be working in one or more of the following areas: RF/Microwave module or MMIC design, test, reliability, assembly, and fabrication.

    What You Will Do

    Some or all of the following:

    Perform fixtured and on-wafer RF/microwave/millimeter-wave measurements on GaAs and GaN devices, modules and MMICs (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits)
    Use software to simulate MMIC and/or module performance
    Assemble RF/microwave/millimeter-wave test systems
    Use software to control test equipment and plot test results
    Work in a cleanroom environment, handling GaAs and GaN wafers
    Assist with various lithography, deposition, and etch processes
    Perform and document optical microscope inspections and scanning electron microscope imaging
    Failure analysis and Data analysis
     

    What You Will Learn

    Some or all of the following:

    RF/Microwave measurement techniques including wafer probing, fixtured devices, pulsed measurements
    Use of test equipment such as Performance Network Analyzers (PNAs), Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Spectrum Analyzers, Real-time Spectrum Analyzers (RSAs), Noise Figure Analyzers, Load-Pull systems etc
    Use of software tools such as Labview, Python and Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS) to control test equipment, simulate design performance and manipulate test date
    Wafer fabrication techniques such as lithography, deposition and etc processes
    Optical and scanning electron microscope imaging techniques
    Data analysis and trouble-shooting techniques
     

    Qualifications You Must Have

    Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major.
    This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum entering their sophomore year by summer 2027.
    The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
     

    Qualifications We Prefer

    Experience/coursework in one or more of the following: RF/microwave, Analog, Digital Electronics, Circuit Design or Analysis, Electrical Components, Electromagnetics
    Lab experience specific to RF/microwave device and circuit measurements
    Knowledge of electrical circuit design, analysis and troubleshooting using common lab equipment and software
    Experience in semiconductor wafer processing techniques
    Technical working knowledge of electronic components (e.g. semiconductor, passive and/or electromechanical) and their application.
    Experience in Root-Cause Corrective Action investigations.
    Experience with any of the following software: Python, Labview, Keysight ADS, HFSS, Cadence Virtuoso, MATLAB, CST, Mentor Graphics’ Expedition, AutoCAD, TCAD, C++, Java, JMP

    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

    Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

    Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.

    Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

    The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

    Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

    This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
