Overview

The Avon Group, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, is seeking an Editorial Intern. The Avon Group is comprised of several imprints including Harper Voyager and Avon Books - which publish a range of genre fiction titles across the romance, women's fiction, sci fi, and fantasy spaces. In this role, you will be supporting the Romance and Science Fiction and Fantasy Team at Avon.

Responsibilities

  • Learns about the editorial process.
  • Reads and evaluates proposals and manuscripts under consideration, writes reader's reports, researches author track records and comparison titles, and drafts rejection letters.
  • Researches trends in editorial content, marketing approaches, and publishing trends as needed.
  • Assists with writing jacket copy.
  • Assists with author/agent communications.
  • Prepares manuscripts for production.
  • Supports editors through administrative tasks such as mailings, requesting marketing materials, and other in-office duties.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be available to work in our NYC office from Monday - Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 7 - August 12, 2027. Compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.
  • Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master's students, or entry level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience.

  • Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master's program.
