This editorial intern role supports our newly formed manga initiative, KAZÉ. Interns will have an invaluable opportunity to learn about the publishing process for titles in a wide range of genres and will shadow passionate editors who are committed to bringing manga to the United States.
Responsibilities:
Writing reader reports
Reading and evaluating potential acquisitions
Learning to write cover copy and title sheets
Researching and checking metadata
Reviewing interior and cover passes
Attending various department meetings
Qualifications:
Candidates must be available to work in our NYC office from Monday – Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 7 – August 12, 2027. Compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.
Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience.

Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.

A passion for manga is highly valued!
Ability to read and communicate effectively in Japanese a plus.
Computer proficiency essential, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) and Adobe programs.
Candidate must have attention to detail (proofreading, keeping on top of deadlines when necessary, and task prioritization).
Must have excellent communication, time-management, and organizational skills
Interest in learning the ins and outs of the publishing world is a must, as is a love of books, particularly manga and graphic novels.
