The NSA Summer Internship Programs at our Fort Meade, MD location offers students exciting, impactful professional work opportunities (with pay and limited benefits!) to grow their knowledge of the Intelligence Community and federal government while advancing NSA's two primary missions: 1) Collecting, analyzing, and producing foreign signals intelligence; and 2) Providing cybersecurity solutions and guidance to protect critical national infrastructure. These summer internship opportunities are open to students who are pursuing education in a variety of degree programs.

Installation & Logistics / Data Center Facility Management Program:

Join the cutting-edge world of intelligence infrastructure and data center management with NSA's Installations and Logistics (I&L) & Data Center Facility Management (DCFM) Intern Program! Over 12 action-packed weeks, you'll dive into real-world projects, from designing efficient data center layouts, managing complex control systems, examining the systems and tools within our material management workflows, analyzing large data sets and dashboards, or surveying and creating construction project documentation. You will have the opportunity to engage with senior leaders, receive top-tier mentorship, tour behind the scenes, and gain unparalleled insights into the mission-critical operations of an intelligence agency. Open to undergraduate and graduate students from a wide range of majors, this internship culminates in a final presentation to senior leadership, and offers an unmatched learning experience.

Join us to support our mission to plan, design, engineer, build, and maintain facilities and infrastructure across the NSA/CSS global cryptologic enterprise and to oversee the Agency's logistics support system to service the requirements of NSA/CSS worldwide.

Previous intern projects have included:

• • Contribute to construction and renovation projects that support facility operations and maintenance through infrastructure planning, design development, standards application and project management services.
• • Monitor our 24/7 operations at the Facilities Control Center with a team of control systems specialists, including experts on fire alarms, SCADA and electrical systems.
• • Coordinate master plans for the new campus under construction, backed by quantifiable cost-benefit analysis.
• • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical system deficiencies through control management systems with a team of senior engineers optimizing functionality for successful future operations.
• • Creation of room layouts to optimize efficiency of a data center.
• • Collect and analyze power space and cooling data for new system installations.
• • Use of 6 Sigma Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tool to better understand how certain factors affect the information technology environment.
• • Design of a net-zero data center facility with the latest industry power and cooling infrastructure technology.To be accepted into the NSA Summer Internship - Installation & Logistics / Data Center Facility Management Program candidates:
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program (undergraduate, graduate, doctorate) at time of application
• Specific education requirements vary by program
• Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Must be eligible to be granted a TS/SCI security clearance after successfully completing a background investigation, a Full-scope Polygraph and a Psychological Evaluation
• Must be available and in the U.S. for operational and technical interviews and other applicable processing, both in-person and via telephone/internet, between the months of October 2026 and April 2027

Architecture, Accounting, Business Management, Business Statistics, Control Systems, Data Analytics, Data Visualization, Design and Planning, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Finance, Fire Protection, Operations/Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Control Systems, Information Technology/Networking, and Urban Development/City Planning or related majors.

• PLEASE NOTE: Other majors may be considered, however the majors listed above are highly recommended.
• PLEASE NOTE: You may be required to complete an Unproctored Internet Testing (UIT) requirement measuring cognitive ability, motivation, and English proficiency.Students are paid a competitive salary commensurate with their education level.
• All internships are 10 - 12 weeks during the summer.
• Receive annual leave, sick leave and paid federal holidays.
• Students who attend school in excess of 75 miles from Fort Meade, MD are eligible for housing accommodations and travel entitlements of a round trip airfare ticket to and from school or mileage reimbursement up to the cost of a government-issued airline ticket.
• Daily transportation to and from work is NOT provided. Students participating in the program are highly encouraged to bring a vehicle. Carpooling with other students MAY be available, but is NOT guaranteed.
• Participation in agency-wide extracurricular programs.
