2027 Undergraduate Internship - Airport Facilities Maintenance

Job Overview

Are you interested in learning how facility needs become maintenance, engineering, and planning projects at one of the world’s busiest airports? The Airport Facilities Maintenance Internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience analyzing facility information and improving the processes that support DFW Airport’s infrastructure.

Working alongside experienced facilities professionals, the intern will support a project to improve how Non-Terminal Facilities requests are reviewed, categorized, and coordinated across maintenance, engineering, and planning teams. This internship is designed for students pursuing a career in facilities management, engineering, construction management, business administration, or a related field.

What you will be doing:

• Reviews asset histories, maintenance records, and available condition assessments to help the team understand facility needs and identify recurring issues.
• Assists with reviewing and categorizing stakeholder project requests to help distinguish maintenance work from requests requiring engineering or planning evaluation.
• Documents the current project request and review process, identifies gaps, and helps develop workflow guidance to improve consistency and accuracy.
• Collaborates with maintenance, engineering, and planning teams to document roles, clarify project handoffs, and support communication with Airport stakeholders.
• Helps develop tracking tools, reports, and recommendations to streamline project coordination and improve the stakeholder experience.

What you need:

• Must be an active student in a Bachelor’s degree program in facilities management, engineering, construction management, business administration, or a related field.
• 18 years of age or older.

What we desire:

• Current, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, including but not limited to students attending the following universities: University of North Texas, University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Dallas, Paul Quinn College, or University of Oklahoma.
