Job Overview

The Merchandise Operations Inventory & Analytics Manager will drive sales and margin improvement through analyzing current business data and trends to drive continuous improvement in buying operations and inventory management in the buy-sell-trade retail model 2nd & Charles. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with the VP of Merchandising for the brand, the planning organization, buyers, warehouse, IT, and store operations to manage total brand inventory, pricing, purchase order management, inventory integrity, and provide business analysis and strategies to address identified business opportunities.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Drive sales and profit results by managing merchandising process from planning through execution of workload in stores to meet company expectations, budgets, and timeline. This includes pricing, signing visual merchandise, and event execution. • Develop and implement inventory management strategies that accommodate a wide range of products, including seasonal buys and one-time closeout buys, in support of the buying processes for the 2nd & Charles Brand. • Improve sales and gross margin through the implementation of processes that will manage and enhance the grading of resale product through analysis of SKU-level performance to improve the in-store buying function. • Continuously improve pricing strategies by designing and testing pricing actions on a smaller scale, building control groups, timing, and sample size, etc., to optimize against business objectives. • Collaborate with the merchant team, warehouse, finance, and store teams to maximize sales and profit and to ensure smooth flow of inventory. • Manage day-to-day processes for our proprietary inventory purchasing application in support of store buying activities. • Display business acumen by utilizing company reporting tools to identify department and global merchandising opportunities or gaps for stores and develop action plans to address. • Acts as Subject Matter Expert on Inventory Management Systems and Technologies. • Develop through data analysis and critical thinking processes to manage pricing in both new and resale products sourced through stores from customers. • Demonstrates awareness and adheres to stores safety standards, inventory accuracy, reduction of product loss, and upholds all company policy and procedures to support the profitability of the store. • Execute any additional tasks and projects necessary at the direction of the Vice President of Merchandising.

Qualifications

BABS in Finance, Business Management, Marketing, or related field Minimum of four (4) years of related experience in strategic management within the field of retail buying operations, finance, business analytics, inventory management, and supply chain management. Experience with both qualitative and quantitative data. Advanced Excel skills, inclusive of pulling, scrubbing, organizing, and presenting data. Proficient in MS Office, ERP Systems, JDAMMS, MS Access, SQL. Understanding of Inventory Management in Omnichannel Retail. Strong financial acumen. Strong communicator, verbal and written via presentations. Experience executing both data gathering and data analysis. Ability to objectively interpret data, extract insights, and link to strategies. Planning: Ability to think ahead and plan over a 1-2-year time span. Meticulous. The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Has a passion for managing projects to conclusion on time. Proven experience managing retail inventory pricing and retail buying operations. A self-starter with the ability to handle multiple complex projects at once. Partnering, influencing, and negotiating with internal and external partners. Ability to communicate effectively to senior-level team members. Personal interest in books, music, and pop culture trends.

Special Requirements

This is a hybrid position based at our corporate office in Birmingham, Alabama. Up to 20 travel may be required with some seasonality.
