2473m - Principal Engineer, Transmission Line Design

Senior Engineering Lead for technical consultation and support within the engineering department, other functional areas and Electric Membership Cooperatives.  Provides oversight to Lead Engineers engaged in the development and modification of design standards and who conduct design reviews of standard and complex design projects; and Senior Engineers who independently perform Transmission Line Design up to 500kV including cable, related equipment, towers and foundations using PLS-CADD, Pole and Tower to create drawings, specifications, and contract documents.  **Opportunities as Lead Engineer or Senior Engineer are available for candidates with relevant design engineering skills who do not meet minimum years of experience requirement.  

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the quality and timeliness of all work products in assigned areas
• Individuals in this role will serve as subject matter expert in Transmission Line, Tower and Foundation design for the Transmission Line Design Services department
• Represents the Corporation in a court of law providing legal testimony on complex projects and associated engineering standards and practices
• Is the primary researcher conducting engineering studies and evaluating materials and acts on findings
• Assists in the preparation of goals and group budget requirements.
• Represents engineering as an internal part of a corporate team. Initiates and leads process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering or similar required, an advanced degree is desirable
• Professional Engineering License, PE is desirable
• 7-10+ years of relevant Electric Utility Grade Transmission design
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of PLS-CADD is required and PLS-Pole and/or PLS-Tower is preferred
• Prior experience working with field engineering personnel is a plus
• Willing to travel for site visits within the State of Georgia
• Effective communicator who develops relationships and is great working with a team and independently to meet project deadlines
• Computer literate and proficient in MS Office Suite
• Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
