Education/Certification:
High Schol Diploma or Certification of GED(High School Equivalence)
Must be able to read and write English to analyze and interpret general business procedures/correspondonce, USDA receipes and regulation and food labels, etc.
Must be able to do simple arithmetic (i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in English
Experience working with applicable computer program and Point-of-Sale systems(s)
Food Handler Certification
Food Manager Certification
Required to have a minimum of 10 hours of continuing professional education development annually
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to interact with students and staff in a consistently pleasant manner
Must have the capacity to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations
Personnel and managment skills
Recordkeeping and accounting skills
Manual dexterity and ability to work under pressure and desirable

Experience:
Must have worked as Kitchen Clerk or Cook in a school setting either within the district or in another district for three or more years. (references verified)
Other employees may qualify if they have had other types of management experiences in previous jobs, preferably within a kitchen, restaurant, or other food service setting.

Primary Purpose:
Directs kitchen operations and manages the high school campus food service operation. Directly supervises thirteen plus food service employees at the high school cafeteria. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manager ensures that appropriate quantities of foods are prepared and served. The Manager has to meet time constraints set by the school menu requirements established by the Food Service Office, and meet health codes established by city and state agencies. May supervise Assistant Cafeteria Manager.
