The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving approximately 3500 students in Westchester County. Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated probationary position of K-12 Behavior Specialist/Psychologist district-wide beginning September 2, 2026.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Conducts individual or group sessions for students in need of explicit support in a wide range of areas including social skills, executive functioning and healthy decision making.
- Experience in crisis intervention.
- Serves as a resource to students to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
- Current knowledge of best practices in educating students with disabilities in inclusive school environments.
- Ability to effectively facilitate group decision-making processes.
- Thorough knowledge of current federal and state regulations governing CPSE, CSE and Section 504.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Fosters a welcoming classroom environment that nurtures emotional well-being and a sense of belonging.
- Uses formative assessments to gauge student understanding.
- Has experience with evidence-based social-emotional learning strategies to promote emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the RULER approach is preferred.
- Uses knowledge of students and student performance when planning lessons.
- Infuses culturally relevant practices to ensure that lessons reflect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all students.
- Integrates diverse perspectives and voices into instructional materials and resources to broaden students' understanding of the world.
- Maintains high expectations for all students.
- Engages in regular, collaborative professional development with the understanding that team efficacy is greater than individual efforts alone.
Certifications/Experience:
- NYS Certification in one of the following areas: School Psychologist, Social Worker or a Related Field.
