The Pathway (CTE) Teacher delivers industry-aligned instruction in their specialized career pathway while ensuring compliance with ALSDE CTE standards. This role implements certification-focused curricula (AOPA, PLTW, CompTIA, Choose Aerospace), prepares students for industry-recognized credentials (CompTIA, FAA Part 107, FAA Part 147 FAA Part 61), and connects learners with work-based experiences. The teacher will also sponsor a Career & Technical Student Organization (CTSO). Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Instruction & Certification Preparation
Deliver and implement pathway-specific curricula, including:
AOPA (Aviation)
PLTW (Aerospace Engineering)
CompTIA (Computer Science)
Choose Aerospace (Aircraft Maintenance)
Train students for industry certifications:
CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification (for Aviation pathways)
Other pathway-relevant credentials (OSHA, NOCTI, etc.)
Maintain certification testing records and coordinate exam logistics to ensure seamless administration.
Pathway Management & Compliance
Track student pathway progress in required systems
Manage work-based learning (internships/job shadows) with industry partners
Conduct annual equipment/safety audits for lab spaces
Industry Engagement
Partner with local employers/advisory boards to align training with workforce needs
Organize industry certification bootcamps (e.g., CompTIA prep courses)
Arrange FAA-approved flight simulations (for Aviation pathways)
CTSO Leadership
Serve as advisor for Career & Technical Student Organization (CTSO)
Lead students in competitions/conferences (e.g., SkillsUSA, TSA)
Coordinate CTSO fundraising for certification exam fees
Professional Development
Maintain current CompTIA/FAA/other certifications
Attend AOPA/PLTW trainer updates annually
Complete ALSDE-required CTE teacher training
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in CTE field OR equivalent industry experience
Valid Alabama CTE teaching certificate (or ability to obtain)
Active industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, FAA Part 107)
Experience:
3+ years in related industry (IT, Aviation, Engineering, etc.)
Teaching/training experience (preferred)
Familiarity with AOPA/PLTW curriculum (if applicable)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to demonstrate technical equipment use (drones, IT labs, etc.)
Travel for industry site visits/CTSO events
