Position Summary: 

The Prek Teacher Assistant (TA) at Belmont Charter Academy is responsible for supporting students’ school success by working collaboratively with building educators. The ideal applicant is a highly motivated, energetic, and mission-aligned individual interested in providing high-quality, engaging care for students across a variety of settings, including the classroom, the lunchroom, recess, and one-on-one support. This is a 10-month position that is supervised by a member of the school leadership team in partnership with the lead teacher.

Core Responsibilities:  

• Execute small and whole group learning using the required curriculum 
• Actively manage and engage students in a variety of settings, including recess, lunch, classroom, arrival, and dismissal. 
• Proactively support students who are struggling behaviorally using trauma-informed practices and Responsive Classroom (all staff members are given professional development around the above) 
• Track student progress and maintain student data
• Ensure a safe, joyful, welcoming, and clean school environment
• Proactively communicate and collaborate with the lead classroom teacher on best instructional practices to maximize student progress 

Additional Responsibilities:

• Attend school-based or network-level professional development sessions as assigned by supervisor
• Attend school-wide meetings
• Support OST programs as assigned by the supervisor
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

• CDA, Associate's, or B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution
• Experience working with children 
• All employees must be able to provide a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and a Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
