26-27 Social Justice Week Committee

Student leaders who are part of the Social Justice Week Planning Committee and are to be awarded stipends for their service to the University are noted below and are subject to change on a yearly basis as determined by the Office of the Dean for Students.

Stipends are processed at the end of each semester, pending completion of the duties outlined below and a positive evaluation by the Senior Associate Dean for Students and the Staff and Faculty Co-chairs of the Social Justice Week Planning Committee.

• Conditions for Receiving a Stipend

AVAILABILITY

• The duties related to this position commence when the student agrees to fulfil this role and conclude at the end of the Fall semester.

MEETINGS

• Student Co-chairs must meet regularly with the Faculty/Staff Co-chair and assist with planning and facilitating their subcommittee meetings.
• Student Co-chairs must attend Social Justice Week full Planning Committee meetings or inform their Faculty/Staff Co-chair if they are unable to do so.
• Student Co-chairs may need to attend other meetings to follow up on items related to their subcommittee.

EXPECTATIONS

• Student Co-chairs are expected to communicate with their Faculty/Staff co-chairs on a regular and consistent basis and respond to emails and other communications in a timely manner.
• Student Co-chairs are expected to work with their Faculty/Staff co-chair to communicate with their subcommittee members and other members of the University community as needed, to carry out the mission of their subcommittee and Social Justice Week
• Student Co-chairs are expected to complete all tasks related to their role and subcommittee, through the completion of Social Justice Week and an evaluation period.

CONFIDENTIALITY

• Report on any misconduct or concerns that you become aware of, through your role as a Student Co-chair.
• Student Co-chairs are expected to maintain confidentiality at all times when dealing with student & University information.

RESIGNATION & TERMINATION

In the event of your resignation or termination from your position, you understand that you will be required to vacate your position within 48 hours after the final decision and all financial benefits will cease immediately.

Exact schedule to be determined with supervisor; no more than 20 hours per week when school is in session and no more than 35 hours per week during breaks.
