KCSD has PD days July 28-30 and teacher workdays July 31 -Aug 1. The District will pay ONE of the two teacher workdays at the beginning of the school year (July 31 OR Aug 1) and for any PD days during which role-relevant PD will be offered (up to 7.5 hours per day), pursuant to direct district supervisor approval. The District does not agree to be billed for any hours on PD and teacher workdays during the school year without prior written approval by the direct district supervisor. The District does not agree to be billed for any hours on e-Learning days without prior written approval by the direct district supervisor.Hours per day: 7.5 The District will pay for up to 7.5 hours per day. The District does not agree to be billed for time over 7.5 hours in any given day without prior written approval for this time from the direct district supervisor. If the contractor is assigned to more than one school, the District agrees to be billed for travel time between schools during the work day, as well as travel to/from meetings, PD, etc required by the district. General Statement of JobUnder limited supervision, the Special Education Teacher plans and delivers developmentally appropriate instruction for students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher supports students’ academic, behavioral, and social development while promoting inclusion, progress toward curriculum goals, and lifelong learning. The position reports to the assigned school Principal.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelops, implements, and monitors Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with state and federal regulations.Plans and delivers instructional lessons that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students with disabilities.Creates and maintains a classroom environment that is safe, structured, and conducive to learning.Employs a variety of instructional strategies, interventions, and adaptive materials to accommodate diverse learning needs.Works collaboratively with general education teachers to promote inclusion and mainstreaming opportunities when appropriate.Conducts ongoing assessment of student progress, maintains accurate records, and prepares required reports and documentation.Schedules, facilitates, and participates in IEP meetings, annual reviews, and reevaluations.Maintains regular communication with parents, guardians, educators, and support staff regarding student needs and progress.Enforces district policies, classroom procedures, and behavior plans in a fair and consistent manner.Supervises students during transitions, lunch, field trips, and other school-related activities to ensure safety.Provides basic first aid and responds appropriately to student health and safety needs.QualificationsSouth Carolina Teacher Certification in one of the following areas:Generic Special EducationMulti-CategoricalLearning DisabilitiesBachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and procedures (IDEA compliance).Skills and AbilitiesStrong classroom management and behavior intervention skillsAbility to individualize instruction and assessmentsEffective written and verbal communication skillsStrong collaboration and teamwork abilitiesPatience, empathy, and commitment to student successDiscipline: Special Education Teacher (SPED)Specialty : SchoolStart Date: 23-Jul-2026Length of Contract : Duration of School YearShift: DaysHours: 7.5Estimated Gross Pay: nullA
