Position Summary:

The Racine Unified School District (RUSD) Workplace Learning Coordinator collaborates with the Academies of Racine High Schools (Case, Horlick and Park), and Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce (RAMAC) to connect students to certified workplace learning opportunities through the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (WI DWD) Youth Apprenticeship and Department of Public Instruction (WI DPI) Skills Standards Programs. The Workplace Learning Coordinator works with high school teachers, Academy teams, CTE teachers, administrators, counselors, and RAMAC to place students in paid work opportunities aligned to their Academy Career Pathway and in support of their Academic and Career Plan (ACP).

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to Career & Technical Education and a minimum of 2 years of high school teaching Career and Technical Education course(s) and/or administrative experience

Licenses and Certifications:

Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Career and Technical Education Content Area License (i.e. Business Education 1250, Marketing Education 1285, Family/Consumer Science Education 1210, Technology Education 1220, Agriculture Education 1200, and/or an Experienced-Based License for Technical & Vocational Education T643) or Career and Technical Education Coordinator License (5093)

Core Competencies

Essential Functions:

  • Monitoring student progress at work sites
  • Collaborating with high school Academy teams, principals, counselors and CTE teachers for the recruitment, monitoring and evaluation of students for and in the Workplace Learning Program
  • Communicating and meeting with business and industry partners employing RUSD workplace learning students to benchmark student progress
  • Collaborating with RAMAC Workplace Learning Coordinator on student work-site placements
  • Reporting metrics of implementation to RAMAC for WI DWD Youth Apprenticeship program
  • Reporting on behalf of RUSD to WI DPI for Skills Standards Program (Coop Skills Standards, Youth Leadership and Employability Skills Certifications)
  • Evaluating Workplace Learning program implementation on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Teach two blocks of Workplace Learning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a field related to Career and Technical Education. Master's preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of high school teaching Career and Technical Education course(s) and/or administrative experience
  • WI DPI CTE Content Area License (Business Education 1250, Marketing Education 1285, Family/Consumer Science Education 1210, Technology Education 1220, Agriculture Education 1200, and/or an Experienced-Based License for Technical & Vocational Education T643) or Career and Technical Education Coordinator License (5093)

Knowledge of:

  • Academies of Racine and Pocket Career Academies in RUSD (REAL, Walden, and Racine Alternative Learning)
  • Work-based learning philosophy and implementation
  • Wisconsin Academic and Career Planning (ACP) process
  • Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Youth Apprenticeship Programs
  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Skills Standards Program for Business, Family/Community Services, Child Care Services, Youth Leadership and Employability Skills

Ability to:

  • Lead, communicate and build relationships with various stakeholders (RUSD, RAMAC, Businesses, Families, Students)
  • Learn about the critical components of an effective Career and Technical Education program (i.e. Perkins, WIOA, Certifications, CTEERS, CTSO, etc.)
  • Transport self to student work-sites, high schools, and varying locations for meetings
  • Problem solve and work with minimal supervision to accomplish objectives
  • Dedicate extended contract time in the summer to work with employers and students in work-site placements

Work Environment:

  • Busy work environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions
  • Travel among Academies of Racine High Schools (Case, Horlick and Park), REAL, Walden, Racine Alternative Learning, and the Administrative Service Campus
  • Travel amongst multiple employer and community sites for student monitoring and evaluations

Physical Demands:

  • Mobile work environment requiring travel
