NOTICE OF VACANCY POSTING DATE: September 14, 2026 POSITION ID: 26-FEA-72 POSITION: Special Education Emotionally Impaired (EI) Teacher 1.0 LOCATION: Forest Elementary SALARY: Per FEA Master Agreement 2026-2027 salary schedule (Preferred starting salary range of $51,053 (BA) - $68,562 (MA), dependent on experience and degree obtained) START DATE: October 2026 DEADLINE: September 18, 2026 or until filled SPECIAL EDUCATION EI TEACHER We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Special Education Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with students, staff, parents, and the community to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about student success, experienced in behavior management, and committed to continuous improvement. QUALIFICATIONS Certification: Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with full Special Education certification and EI (Emotionally Impaired) endorsement required. Education/Experience: Must meet all requirements per rule 340.1781-82 of the Michigan State Board of Education. Evidence of successful teaching experience, including one year in Special Education, is preferred. Skills: Experience with differentiated instruction and behavior management strategies. Knowledge of FBA (Functional Behavioral Assessment), BIP (Behavior Intervention Plan), and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) preferred. Experience with Common Core State Standards. Training: Must be CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) trained or willing to be CPI trained within 30 days of the hire date and annually update CPI certification. Interpersonal: Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, staff, parents, and the community.
