DARTMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLSJOB DE SCRIP TIONFOOD SER VICE W ORKERJob Goal:To ensure the smooth and efficient operationof the assigned schools for the SchoolNutrition Department.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Other duties may be assignedIncludes the following but not limited to:Performs efficiently and to the best of his/her abilitythe duties assigned in relation to the preparationoffood, serving of food, cashiering and cleaning allareas of the kitchen, or other assigned duties inthetime allotted.Logs in through AESOP to enter daily attendance andat the earliest possible time if unable to reporttowork.Follows all policies of the School Nutrition Departmentand instructions relating to safety measures,sanitation practices, personnel standards, cash handling,work techniques, and methods of performingduties.Assists with food preparation, including consistentportions of food, cleans kitchen equipment and workarea, sets up serving counter, serves food on theline after receiving instructions related to servingportions. Follows standards to check the temperatureof food and equipment. Follows meal patternrequirements in serving student meals.Washes dishes, trays, flatware, pots, etc.Unpacks supplies and assists with stocking and organizingdry storage shelves, refrigerator and freezer,properly rotating stock using the first in first outmethod.Ability to operate all kitchen equipment properly.Prepares the kitchen for the opening and closing ofthe school year.Performs any and all tasks assigned by a Supervisoror Lead.Reports to assigned school to substitute as neededor directed by the Cafeteria Supervisor or Lead.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Any combination of experience and training that demonstratesthe knowledge and experience to perform thework.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workersand students, to work independently, under pressure,and/or with frequent interruptions. Ability and skillto operate kitchen tools and equipment.Follows the direction of the Cafeteria Lead to completework assignments and work schedule.Maintains flexibility in accepting work as assigned.Reports to work on time and in the proper designatedattire.Other duties as assigned to ensure optimal programoperationPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ability to perform work requiring sustained moderatephysical effort, movement of objects weighing40-60 pounds, operation of commercial school nutritionequipment, continuous standing and variationsin temperature. (Special requirements such as liftingheavy objects and frequent climbing, twisting andturning.) TRAINING:Throughout the year, in order to meet the federalprofessional standards training requirements of 6hoursannually for cashier/helpersIn addition, all cafeteria staff is required to participatein mandatory training, prior to the opening of eachnewschool year. Training will be scheduled during thelast week of summer break, at the discretion of theDirector ofSchool Nutrition, based on the availability of trainers.All hours for training will be paid for at the employee'sregular rate of pay. Additional costs for training(fees andmaterials) will be the responsibility of the program.
