Position Summary

The School of Nursing invites applicants for a Full-time, 9-month, Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor of Medical-Surgical Nursing. We seek an enthusiastic nurse educator with expertise in adult health and medical-surgical nursing to contribute primarily to our undergraduate prelicensure nursing programs. The position begins in August 2027.

The mission of the School of Nursing, part of the College of Health Sciences, is to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate nursing education to students from diverse populations. The School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the State Board of Nursing of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The faculty position involves teaching undergraduate nursing courses that may be offered through in-person and/or distance education modalities, with a primary focus on the nursing care of adults experiencing acute and chronic health conditions. Teaching responsibilities may include didactic, clinical, simulation, laboratory, and other experiential learning experiences. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the undergraduate nursing curriculum and demonstrate attention to the learning and teaching needs of students. The faculty member will collaborate with other School of Nursing and College faculty and staff to promote student success. The typical course load involves teaching twelve credits per semester.
The appointment will include working with affiliated agencies and clinical partners and will necessitate satisfying contractual obligations such as health requirements, physical guidelines, clinical hours, codes of conduct, and other agency-specific requirements.
