Hours: Evening Shift, 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm Benefits: Eligible Compensation: $19.60-$20.96

Position Summary

Prescott School District is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented Evening Custodian to join our Elementary School team. This position plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, families, and visitors.

The Evening Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned areas of the Elementary School after the school day. This position works under the direction of the Director of Buildings and Grounds and Lead Custodian.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
  • Sweep, vacuum, mop, and maintain floors in assigned areas.
  • Empty wastebaskets, garbage cans, and recycling containers.
  • Clean and disinfect desks, tables, counters, drinking fountains, and other frequently touched surfaces.
  • Restock toilet tissue, paper towels, soap, and other custodial supplies as needed.
  • Clean windows, doors, walls, and other surfaces as assigned.
  • Secure assigned areas at the end of the shift by checking doors, windows, and lights.
  • Report safety concerns, maintenance needs, damage, or unusual conditions to the supervisor.
  • Maintain custodial equipment and supplies in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal from sidewalks, entrances, steps, and other exterior areas as needed.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for school programs, meetings, activities, and special events.
  • Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and other items as directed.
  • Assist with seasonal projects and the annual summer deep cleaning of the building.
  • Maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with students, staff, families, and visitors.
  • Follow district safety procedures and proper practices for handling cleaning products and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to lift, bend, reach, push, pull, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to safely operate custodial tools and equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to assist with outdoor duties in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness and ability to work occasional overtime or weekends when needed.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and positive school environment.

Previous custodial, cleaning, or facilities experience is preferred but not required.

The selected candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check. The position requires regularly standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling, as well as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Occasional overtime, weekend work, or adjusted hours may be required for school events, weather-related needs, and special projects.
