As a Diesel Mechanic with Waste Connections, your primary responsibility is to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently. Key duties include:
+ Performing preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel trucks and heavy equipment
+ Troubleshooting and repairing electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
+ Utilizing vehicle computer diagnostic systems to identify failures and program engine and vehicle control modules
+ Responding to road calls and emergency repairs as needed
+ Reviewing, completing, or assigning repairs based on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
+ Completing maintenance documentation using fleet maintenance software
+ Test driving vehicles before and after repairs to ensure proper operation
+ Supporting team members with repairs and troubleshooting when needed
+ Maintaining professional, courteous communication with drivers and coworkers
+ Keeping a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards
+ Performing additional job-related duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, candidates should have:
+ Strong experience with diesel engine diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance
+ Proficiency using a variety of diesel diagnostic tools
+ A basic set of mechanic tools
+ Class B CDL (or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire)
+ Hydraulic system experience (preferred but not required)
+ A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and service excellence
