2nd shift Injection Mold /Press operator

Job Description: Mold Press Operator
Press Operator (or recycling baler/processing press operator) safely runs and maintains industrial baling or compacting presses to compress recycled materials like cardboard, paper, plastic, or metal into tight, uniform bales for transport and sale.

Main Duties

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.

• Basic mechanical skills to troubleshoot and clear machine issues.

• Physical ability to stand for long shifts and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Commitment to workplace safety rules and wearing required protective gear.

• Forklift certification or willingness to learn is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Machine Operation: Set up, start, and operate extrusion or injection molding machines to meet production specifications.
• Material Handling: Load plastic, billets, or other raw materials into the machinery, often using forklifts or pallet jacks.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards by measuring, trimming, and checking for flaws (such as flash or inconsistent parts).
• Monitoring & Adjustments: Monitor machine gauges and controls—adjusting temperature, speed, and pressure to ensure optimal operation.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on molds and machinery and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
• Safety & Housekeeping: Adhere to safety protocols, maintain a clean workspace, and handle materials safely.

• Experience: Previous experience as a press operator or in a manufacturing/plastics environment is usually preferred, though on-the-job training is often offered.
• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Skills: Ability to read/write, basic math skills, and familiarity with hand/power tools.
