2nd shift Laser Set Up Operator

Position Overview:

The Laser Setup Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining laser cutting equipment to precisely cut, drill, and fabricate metal components according to engineering specifications and production schedules. This role plays a key part in the Metals Department, focusing on quality, efficiency, and minimizing material waste.

Essential Job Functions

• Set up and operate laser cutting systems (including loading programs, aligning materials, and adjusting parameters).
• Properly and efficiently use tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify specifications and cuts.
• Receive and stage materials from material handlers.
• Neatly palletize and tag processed materials for downstream operations.
• Meet or exceed daily production targets set by management while maintaining high quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on laser equipment and work area.
• Maintain accurate counts and inventory of materials used and completed parts.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience operating lasers, CNC machines, or other metal fabrication equipment.
• Experience with CAD files / nesting software is a plus.
• Previous machine operator experience in a manufacturing environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals).
• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure, calipers, and other basic measuring tools.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Commitment to safety protocols and maintaining a clean work area

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of experience operating lasers, CNC machines, or metal fabrication equipment preferred.
• Previous manufacturing or fabrication shop experience is a plus.

• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds at a time.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, and move throughout the facility.
