Summary:
A local manufacturing facility specializing in the production of precision fasteners for aircraft systems, pressure vessels, and medical devices is seeking a 2nd Shift Lead Machinist to oversee day-to-day shop operations. This role manages machine setup and operation and supervises the second-shift machining team.
Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate CNC and manual machines, including roll threaders, Swiss screw machines (Citizen), Miyano lathes, Fanuc Robodrills, and occasional 5-axis mills.
* Serve as the lead machinist on second shift, overseeing and supporting one additional machinist.
* Assist the other machinist with machine setups, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
* Perform first-piece inspections and ensure parts meet print and quality requirements.
* Monitor machines during production runs and make offsets or adjustments as needed.
* Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
* Communicate shift status, issues, and handoffs to management or first shift as needed.
Qualifications:
* Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with roll threader machines (highly preferred).
* CNC machining experience in a production or job shop environment.
* Experience setting up and running CNC lathes and/or mills.
* Familiarity with Swiss screw machines (Citizen), Miyano lathes, and Fanuc Robodrills preferred.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
* Basic inspection skills using micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.
* Prior lead or senior machinist experience preferred, but formal management experience not required.
* Experience programming or editing G-code preferred, but not required.S
